Grantaire -> pronounced [grand air] -> grand r [“capital R”] -> nicknamed R
And I have this headcanon where after some time he and Enjolras are together, Enjolras starts calling him “R" as well. But not “R" as the letter, but “air” as in “l’air”, the air.
And Enjolras explains that he never thought he could fall so much for another human, but now he has Grantaire, and he can’t imagine to live without him, because he needs him -like air- to live.
